DESCRIPTIONS Edge of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park- after Chris left the Salton City Post Office, he hiked into the desert and set up camp. San Diego- in early February, Chris announced to Ron that he was going to San Diego to earn more money. Ron told Chris that he needed to go to (which was a lie). So he drove him to the city. Seattle- on March 5, Chris sent a postcard to Ron saying that he was in Seattle, living as a hobo. He aslo told him that he is riding trains. Oakland- after getting yelled at by a bull, Chris caught a train he was on before and rode it to Oakland. Colton- Chris had hopped many trains back to the desert. In Colton, California, another bull deiscovered him and threw him in jail. Coachella- After Chris got released, he hitchhiked to Coachella, California- southeast of Palm Springs. Chris made a call to ron and asked to pick him up. Ron thought he was still in Seattle but Chris told him he was in Coachella, California. Salton City-After Ron picked Chris up, they drove all the way back to Salton City. Chris said he would only be staying for a day.
Grand Junction, Colorado- Ron offered to drive chris to Grand Junction, which was the farthest he could go because he had an appointment in Salton City the following Monday. Chris accepted. Bullhead City- Ron and Chris stopped in Bullhead City to close out Chris's bank account and to visit Charlie. Carthage- Chris went to Carthage, South Dakota to work for Wayne Westerburg. He wanted to earn some cash before he made his way to Alaska. Whitefish, Montana- a week after Chris left, Wayne got a postcard on April 18 with a Montana postmark. chris told him he got there by a freight train. Alaska(Yukon Territory)- Wayne received another postcard in early may from Chris. He said that this would be the last they would hear from him and he would be a very long time before he returns to the south.
